Fashion Models and the Hottest Designer Trends

I was browsing through a bunch of handbags that I clearly can not afford and I found a black handbag from the Valentino 2008-2009 collection that I just adore.

I love how the leather pattern forms a rose. Actually, it seems like bows and roses were in the spotlight for the 2008-2009 fall/winter Valentino purse collection since most of the bags had one or the other.  Yep, the hand bags are pretty awesome, well most of them, but very expensive as well. Who would have thunk it, Jerell finally won a challenge and we lost Terri and the tan deprived Blayne.

Luckily for Blayne, he can now regain his health in the tanning booth.

The losing outfits were just horrid, but then again, this was the most disappointing runway show of the season.

Poor Blayne, his creation there of the lop-sided 1/2 cream and 1/2 neon fabri-icky mess. I believe “pooping fabric” was what Michael Kors said about it. I also must mention that Stella’s influence in the design is clear… those horrid black straps are all Stella.

Anyway… can’t wait to see the new episode of Project Runway this week.

For me, it does not seem like such a big deal, but to the fashion sensative… this is a serious fashion blooper. This is a few years back, but still too funny.

Yes, Hilary Swank and Jennifer Biel wore the same Velentino gown. Not to the same event luckily, but there were plenty of paparazzi pictures showing the fashion blooper.

Seems that the Valentino line sold them both the same gown saying nobody has worn it to an event… hmmmm.  The excuse for the fashion screw up went like this…

Valentino issued a statement, too, but would not specifically address the Biel mix-up: “Valentino dresses are timeless, and each woman brings to them her own interpretation. Two beautiful actresses can be different and great even in the same dress.”

What happened? Ultimately, it’s the responsibility of Biel’s stylist and Valentino’s public-relations mavens to research gowns to be sure they haven’t been worn to high-profile events before, says Treena Lombardo, fashion market director at W. “But in the harriedness of the season, people are just doing their best with a lot of gowns flying in and out of hotel rooms.”

Twiggy is one of our centuries best known models and many say she is the original supermodel. Her huge eyes are unforgettable and she graced the covers of just about every magazine from fashion to newsweek during the 1960′s.

Twiggy is one of these rare beauties whose eyes really do tell a story and we all can’t help but stare at them looking for more. I would imagine that is what made her so popular and hes kept her a style icon till today.

Hats were all the rage in the 1950′s and hollywood actresses were the supermodels.

Again, reminds me of the “i Love Lucy” episode where the designer needed the “stars” wives to model their own clothes. Supermodels and fashion models pretty much started around the 1960′s with Twiggy paving the way. Here is Twiggy, the first, real supermodel of the century. Twiggy opened the door for the modeling craze of the 80′s and the coming of the Cheryls.
