The March 2010 issue of Marie Claire UK features a layout starring 27-year-old Canadian True Blood star Anna Paquin, who won an Oscar at age nine being the second youngest actress to receive the award, shot by photographer Frederic Pinet set in a supermarket. Making the supermarket look fashionably chic, Anna is shown in a stretch Viktor & Rolf tulle and sequin dress with Pierre Hardy suede and Swarovski crystal sandals with a full shopping cart in the produce section, a Chanel tweed dress with Gianvito Rossi nylon shoes in front of a mountain of bottled water, Prada Plex Crystal dress and cotton top with a satin and Plex Crystal belt in the candy aisle having a Red Vine in mouth, Lavin blue silk dress under a red silk dress with black Jonathan Kelsey leather shoes holding a bouquet of balloons, a Josh Goot silk dress with Rock and Republic leather shoes leaning against the snack aisle, stunningly poised in an Alexander McQueen silk chiffon and diamante dress in front of the meat freezer, and looking intense in a Salvatore Ferragamo silk dress and Christian Louboutin studded leather shoes next to a tower of Duraflames. I really enjoy this layout of Anna showing her in a ‘normal’ everyday setting in an array of fabulous dresses with Viktor & Rolf tulle and sequin dress being my favorite.

For the March 2010 issue of Vogue Nippon is an 18-page editorial entitled “The Lonesome Highway” starring 19-year-old Russian cover girl Anna Selezneva of Silent Models, who was featured on the cover of Numéro February 2010, shot by photographer Mark Segal. Styled by George Cortina, Anna brings to life the simplicity of rural life in patterned pieces by designers Alexander McQueen, Louis Vuitton, Jeremy Scott, and Chanel with my favorite piece being the pink Jeremy Scott strapless bodysuit looking very young, fresh, and chic.

Camping out in turbans, trenches, and safari gear, 18-year-old California-native model Cassandra Smith is featured in an editorial entitled “Night At the Museum” for Tatler March 2010 shot by photographer Luis Monteiro. Styled by Chloe Beeny, Cassandra showcases the modern colonial look dressing printed harem-style or skinny pants with a safari jacket in designers such as Dior, Bally, Chanel, Salvatore Ferragamo, Burberry, Stella McCartney, Dolce & Gabbana, Ralph Lauren Black Label, Misa Hirada, and Bottega Veneta. Although I would have liked to see more interaction with the setting being in a museum, I really enjoy all the neutral colors in this editorial with my favorite piece being the tan Burberry suede trench dress looking very chic and mature.

Presenting this spring’s hottest pieces in Harper’s Bazaar US March 2010 is 31-year-old Estonian cover girl Carmen Kass of Silent Models, who recently renewed her contract with Michael Kors, in an editorial entitled “The New Shapes” shot by photographer Camilla Åkrans. Set in a gorgeous European-style mansion, Carmen showcases designs by Michael Kors, Alexis Bittar, Robert Lee Morris, Chanel, Eddie Borgo, Calvin Klein, Kara by Kara Ross, Ongwat, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Lanvin, Anton Heunis, Tom Binns, and Yves Saint Laurent just to name a few. I am in love with the yellow Versace bodysuit and skirt with silver panels having an extremely low cut back with the most spring-felt Versace platforms.

In a Marie Antoinette infused with an Asian influenced winter wonderland-type editorial entitled “China White,” 25-year-old Russian cover girl Sasha Pivovarova of IMG, who recently renewed her contract with Longchamp, is featured in the March 2010 issue of Vogue UK shot by photographer Tim Walker. As the star of this fantasy world, stylist Kate Phelan showcased Sasha in a white Yves Saint Laurent sleeveless double crêpe cotton dress coat with white Cornelia James opera gloves and white Jonathan Aston tights, a cream Chanel taffeta minidress and white Chanel leather shoes with Bebaroque printed tights, a white John Rocha crochet top with peplum waist and John Rocha leather clogs with white Dolce & Gabbana silk shorts and Jonathan Aston tights, a Giambattista Valli linen/silk ruffle-front cape with white Cornelia James opera gloves and Bebaroque printed tights, and a white Fendi shredded voile shift dress with John Rocha leather clogs. Utilizing a setting in shades of blue and whites, the editorial looks very classic and French with my favorite look being the Gianfranco Ferré strapless silk-organza minidress with Natacha Marro printed suede ankle boots surrounded by pearls on the floor as well as dangling from a leafless tree.

In an editorial entitled “Lookbook” for Elle Italia February 2010, 22-year-old Italian supermodel Vanessa Hessler of Glamour Models, Dutch model Charon Cooijmans of Marilyn Agency, Georgian model Anna K., and Dutch model Valerie Van der Graaf of SPS Model Management star in this simple editorial shot by photographer Michael Sanders. These lovely ladies are shown in designers such as Jill Sander, Karl Lagerfeld, Giorgio Armani, Prada, Miu Miu, Dolce & Gabbana, Pierre Mantoux, Moschino, Chanel, Max Mara, and Ralph Lauren with my favorite item being the gray top with the Karl Lagerfeld embellishment.

In the recent issue of Numéro, 25-year-old Itlian model Bianca Balti of IMG, stars in a religious yet seductive editorial entitled “Faith” shot by photographer Camilla Åkrans. Styled by Franck Benhamou, Bianca is shown in a church revealing her legs, praying by the windowsill, outside by the courtyard, with a been on her arm, and as a nun in designers such as Fendi, Chanel, Givenchy, Dice Kayek, Yves Saint Laurent, and Prada. I think this editorial is a great twist on a religion turned seductive with the white cross-like dress being my favorite look.

For the second issue of the online publication The New Tough, American model Heather Sutton of Next Models is featured on the cover and in an editorial entitled “I Sold My Soul to the Devil” shot by photographer Robin Black. With a gothic touch, stylist Brett Bailey styles Heather in a jeweled dress by Jenny Packham with a Miriam Haskell pendant necklace, a mustard yellow Max Azria dress with a vintage Chanel necklace, a royal blue Olima satin dress with vintage jewelry by Dior, and a fuchsia Juan Carlos Obando satin blouse with jewelry by Miriam Haskell and Cartier. All the bold colors really make the ensembles look outstanding with my favorite being the Jenny Packham jeweled dress with the intricately made sequins.

The winter season is dragging on leaving our skin dry, red, and ghostly pale, but the makeup gurus over at Chanel has given us something to make the rest of the winter pass by easier. Chanel has just released a limited edition Radiant Glow Highlighting Powder containing a soft shimmer and hints of warm beige and rose tones to give our faces some much needed color. Karl Lagerfeld’s Chanel Haute Couture Spring 2010 collection takes inspiration from a mix of romanticism and space age to quite eye-tricking handwork in pale pinks, straw yellows, almond greens, beiges, and grays with whites. The collection, steering clear of any gold, which is rare for Karl, black, and navy, was presented during Paris Fashion Week featuring top models Freja Beha Erichsen of IMG, Siri Tollerød of Marilyn Model Management, Kasia Struss of Women Model Management, Jacquelyn Jablonski of Elite Model Management, Magdalena Frackowiak also of Elite, Lindsay Ellingson of Viva, Anja Rubik of Next Models, Angelika Kocheva also of Marilyn Models, Sofia Fisher also of Marilyn Models, Skye Stracke also of Viva, Hanne Gaby Odiele also of Women Models, Sophie Srej also of IMG, Abbey Lee Kershaw also of Next Models, Liu Wen also of Marilyn Models, Shu Pei Qin also of Next Models, Dorothea Barth Jorgensen also of Elite, Isabeli Fontana of Silent Models, and more.

Karl does not like to describe clothing as ‘futuristic’. He says, “I don’t believe in avant-garde clothes for a future that will never happen. Fashion is always now.”

The collection is very young and joyful exemplifying luxury through light using sequins, crystals, embroideries, silver threads, and ethereal volumes from short suits to liquid togas. Some pieces even had embroidery resembling smashed glass and molten metal using jewelry as part of the structure of the garment. This Haute Couture collection is very dreamy full of bows and girly embellishments that would make any women feel gorgeous and confident.
