Fashion Models and the Hottest Designer Trends

26-year-old Italian cover girl Isabeli Fontana has become one of my favorite models in the industry from her high fashion ad campaigns to her editorials full of personality. In Vogue Brasil February 2010, Isabeli stars in an editorial entitled “Free Isabeli” portraying her as a bank robber. The editorial shows her attempting to break into the bank vault using a neon toy gun stealing colorful money but she gets caught by security who throw her behind bars. Unlike many other models in the industry today, Isabeli is able to show a wide range of emotions, like an actor would, while still being able to portray high fashion in a classy and appealing manner.

In a pilgrim meets Native American editorial, 23-year-old Russian cover girl Anne Vyalitsyna of Elite Models, who was recently featured on the cover of Elle France by Jan Welters, is featured in the March 2010 issue of Vogue Deutsch shot by photographer Alexi Lubomirski. Using hues of sepia to create the olden imaging, Anne is posed with antique chairs, Native American-style feather-headpieces, and in pilgrim hats in shades of blacks, whites, and browns. Although the editorial looks very thought out with a fluid story line, Anne’s face looks like too much self-tanner was applied giving the editorial a strange, uneasy finish.

In an editorial entitled “Bohemian Way” for the February 2010 issue of Vogue Italia, 24-year-old Russian cover girl Sasha Pivovarova of IMG, who recently appeared in editorials for Vogue and Vogue Italia, is shot by photographer Emma Summerton portraying a dreary dame. Transformed by fashion editor Edward Enninful, Sasha is styled in bright pink, yellow, orange, and purple designs lounging and smoking in a wild setting full of zebra-prints, geometric designs, red-curtained walls, feathers, and vintage hats.

Having already won seven Emmy Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, four SAG Awards, and four Writers Guild Awards, 39-year-old comedic actress, writer, and producer Tina Fey is featured on the cover of the March 2010 issue of Vogue US with New York City’s skyline in the back. In a surprising black-and-white image, Tina is showcased in black hot pants, black evening gloves, and Mickey Mouse ears to hit all middle-aged women’s closets this season according to Vogue.

On being an icon for female normalcy, in the magazine, Tina says, “I feel like I represent normalcy in some way. What are your choices today in entertainment? People either represent youth, power, or sexuality. And then there’s me, carrying normalcy. Me and Rachael Ray.”

About America’s troubling weight issues, She says, “People will say, ‘Oh, fashion magazines are so bad, they’re giving girls a negative message’—but we’re also the fattest country in the world, so it’s not like we’re all looking at fashion magazines and not eating. Maybe it just starts a shame cycle: I’m never going to look like that model, so… Chicken McNuggets it is! And conversely, I don’t look at models who are crazy skinny and think I want to look like that, because a lot of them are gigantic, with giant hands and giant feet.”

Like us all, Tina talks about wearing hand-me-downs in grade school saying, “[The Halloween costume] consisted of a bonnet and a burlap apron and a long skirt. And I would just wear it sometimes after school. As an outfit… It was the Bicentennial! People were excited!”

In a Marie Antoinette infused with an Asian influenced winter wonderland-type editorial entitled “China White,” 25-year-old Russian cover girl Sasha Pivovarova of IMG, who recently renewed her contract with Longchamp, is featured in the March 2010 issue of Vogue UK shot by photographer Tim Walker. As the star of this fantasy world, stylist Kate Phelan showcased Sasha in a white Yves Saint Laurent sleeveless double crêpe cotton dress coat with white Cornelia James opera gloves and white Jonathan Aston tights, a cream Chanel taffeta minidress and white Chanel leather shoes with Bebaroque printed tights, a white John Rocha crochet top with peplum waist and John Rocha leather clogs with white Dolce & Gabbana silk shorts and Jonathan Aston tights, a Giambattista Valli linen/silk ruffle-front cape with white Cornelia James opera gloves and Bebaroque printed tights, and a white Fendi shredded voile shift dress with John Rocha leather clogs. Utilizing a setting in shades of blue and whites, the editorial looks very classic and French with my favorite look being the Gianfranco Ferré strapless silk-organza minidress with Natacha Marro printed suede ankle boots surrounded by pearls on the floor as well as dangling from a leafless tree.

On the cover of Vogue Brazil February 2010 is none other than the 26-year-old Brazilian supermodel Isabeli Fontana of Storm Models with a paparazzi-style cover shoot shot by Fabio Bartelt. Styled by Giovanni Frasson, Isabeli is flawlessly chic in tees, skinny pants, blazers, cardigans, leather jackets, and killer heels. I feel that this cover shoot portrays the craziness of paparazzi quite accurately with flashing lights all around her and almost fall of her heel trying to get away. My favorite look in this set is the white tee and black pants with some stunning bronze heels.

In the March 2010 issue of Vogue Nippon, 24-year-old Polish supermodel Anja Rubik of Next Models, who recently walked for Chanel, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Christian Dior couture shows during Paris Fashion Week, is featured in a virgin countryside editorial entitled “The Bride” shot by photographer Camilla Åkrans. Styled by Sissy Vian, Anja is showcased in pure white and cream ensembles from stunning, long wedding gowns, laced mini dresses, and fur coats to wedding vails, bouquets of flowers, and a baby sheep. This is a gorgeous editorial for brides to be showcasing a variety of styles future brides will feel absolutely stunning in on their special day.
