The winter season is dragging on leaving our skin dry, red, and ghostly pale, but the makeup gurus over at Chanel has given us something to make the rest of the winter pass by easier. Chanel has just released a limited edition Radiant Glow Highlighting Powder containing a soft shimmer and hints of warm beige and rose tones to give our faces some much needed color. Using the brush that comes with the powder, lighten up your cheeks, brow bones, and corners of your eyes giving you that just got back from vacationing in the Caribbeans glow. The Chanel Radiant Glow Highlighting Powder is retailing at $65 available now at Chanel retailers as well as at Chanel.com.

Hair and makeup at the Spring 2010 Yves Saint Laurent runway show seemed a bit matched. Yes, matched, the hair matched the makeup, not in color, but accessories. The models wore plastic headbands that were a bit reminiscent of the giant, gaudy headbands a decade back.  Remember those cheap, plastic v shaped combs? They were about 2 inches wide and 12″ in diameter, you combed your hair starting at the forehead, then drug it down the rest and wrapped it into a ponytail. Well those odd combs were brought back on the YSL 2010 runway.

Rumor has it that the hair style was thought up the night before the show. Luckily, they had plenty of fake eye lashes to match. YSL’s makeup was all about the eyes. The rest of the facial makeup was minimalistic with light lips and a hint of blush.  The fake lashes were clumped together in sections, playing off the v shape of the headband. Actually, YSL pulled it off quite well.  Rather than looking cheap, it came off very chic.  Learn how to apply your own fake lashes.

Eyebrows can be one of the most difficult attributes to perfect on your face being either your best assets or your worst enemy. If you have tried all the torturous techniques of waxing, threading, plucking, bleaching, etc., here are some tips from creative director of E.L.F. Cosmetics, Achelle Dunaway, in creating the perfectly arched brows to shape your face.

Step 1: Start with a clean face. Using your tweezers, pluck away any stray hairs. If you have sensitive skin, apply ice to numb the brow area before plucking.

Step 2: With an eyebrow lifter, concealer, or foundation, apply right underneath the brow and blend in using your ring finger or a brush.

Step 3: Use an eyebrow stencil kit to determine your eyebrow shape.

Step 4: Mixing powder and cream, fill in your brows starting with the outside corners to avoid overly dramatic brows in the middle.

Step 5: Lastly, use a clear mascara to tame any stray hairs and create more definition.

Proactiv, once the leader in acne skin treatment, is taking on three new faces by the names of pop sensations Katy Perry, Avril Lavigne, and actress Jenna Fischer in attempt to reinvigorate the brand. Proactiv has been slipping from its number one rank with their competition being the likes of Johnson & Johnson’s Clean and Clear and Neutrogena Skin ID.

Co-CEO Ben Van de Bunt explains, “We are definitely reintroducing big celebrities again, and we are coupling it with a slight difference in the conversation where we view acne as the enemy, and the best way to fight acne is with Proactiv.”

Proactiv is getting ready to launch their new campaign by fine-tuning everything such as rejuvenating the benzoyl peroxide into microcrystals to easier get into those hard to reach pores. Spending $200 million on ad time worldwide this year with the improved product and three new faces, hopefully Proactiv will resume its reign as the top acne skin treatment.
