Fashion Models and the Hottest Designer Trends

Kate Moss, the supermodel… just in case she needs that introduction,  has  extended her work with Longchamp and a collection called Kate Moss for Longchamp should be in stores this month.

After the recent announcement from Longchamp that the face of campaigns for the last eight seasons 36-year-old supermodel Kate Moss to design a line of handbags, everyone was excited for the first previews of the line. Now, just one month later, are the first images of the collection. Kate Moss for Longchamp embodies Kate’s laid-back lifestyle and constantly changing roles of model, red carpet diva, world traveler, and mom in three themes consisting of Rock n’ Casual, Rock n’ Travel, and Rock n’ Glam.

About this collection, Kate explained, “I like bags that are comfortable and light. I pack my bags to the brim, so if it’s a heavy bag to start with, I can never carry it.”

This collection reflects Kate’s bohemian style from metal eyelets and braided piping to diagonal zippers and luscious lining in red, black, emerald, gray, and nude spiced up with a limited-edition zebra print. The collection will be released later this month at all Longchamp stores and retailers.

On the cover of the March 2010 issue of Harper’s Bazaar US is 36-year-old British supermodel Kate Moss of IMG shot by photographer Peter Lindhberg. The cover shoot shows her up close and personal, lounging on a sky blue chair, having afternoon tea, a cigarette in her mouth, and in bed with none less than two men.

In the magazine, Kate revealed that she doesn’t consider herself a fashion designer. Kate said, “I’m not really a fashion designer. I just love clothes. I’ve never been to design school. I can’t sketch. I can’t cut patterns and things. I can shorten things. I can make a dress out of a scarf.”

About this shoot for Harper’s Bazaar she said, “It was with Peter [Lindbergh], and it was so much fun. He was absolutely hilarious. Peter is old-school. There aren’t many around like him anymore who really know how to take pictures. There’s him and Patrick [Demarchelier]. He really knows, and he makes it look so easy. I’ve known him since I was 18 and worked with him for Bazaar. He’s into older women, and as I get older, it gets better. He’s not into little girls. Now that I’m older, we really talk and hang out. It’s great to catch up, to grow up and be able to talk to people who used to see you as a little kid.”

Along with all her successes in the fashion industry, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris will be staging a major exhibition on Kate’s height, body, spirit, and the impact she has had on the fashion world to premier spring of 2011.

Only being about a week after the announcement of her collaboration with the brand Longchamp, supermodel Kate Moss appeared in Vogue Paris debuting their collaborated collection. The collection stay true to Longchamp’s design aesthetic of simple, classic, everyday wear handbags. The three bags featured are a brown leather bag with pea-sized grommets lined with a zebra print, for some Kate Moss style, a green, pebbly leather pouchette, and a larger metallic gray clutch.

Kate told Vogue Paris, “The emerald green pouchette, whose color I love, I wanted to be very simple, based on the shape of an envelope. I would wear it with all black or all navy. Because I love to wear dove grey, I wanted a bag in that color to go with my grey jeans.”

The Kate Moss for Longchamp line will be available in stores starting February 11th.

Looking through the model magazines online,  I found an interesting list. The list is of the top 2 dozen supermodel money makers in the game. I am not talking about the standard runway model who struts her stuff down the catwalks of European shows.

The girls on this list are modeling powerhouses. They are beyond being mere mortals and have managed to get to a place in their careers where design superhouses and international cosmetic companies do backflips to get their attentions, as they should.

How many models can say their appearance on a magazine cover will convert into record sales? The top 10 of these ladies can and command six figure contracts to do just that.

Since no one really knows for sure who is making what, we can assume that the list is an educated guess at best taking into account the projects and clients these ladies are associated with.

One Thing most of these top models have in common is Victoria’s Secret.
