Karl Lagerfeld’s Chanel Haute Couture Spring 2010 collection takes inspiration from a mix of romanticism and space age to quite eye-tricking handwork in pale pinks, straw yellows, almond greens, beiges, and grays with whites. The collection, steering clear of any gold, which is rare for Karl, black, and navy, was presented during Paris Fashion Week featuring top models Freja Beha Erichsen of IMG, Siri Tollerød of Marilyn Model Management, Kasia Struss of Women Model Management, Jacquelyn Jablonski of Elite Model Management, Magdalena Frackowiak also of Elite, Lindsay Ellingson of Viva, Anja Rubik of Next Models, Angelika Kocheva also of Marilyn Models, Sofia Fisher also of Marilyn Models, Skye Stracke also of Viva, Hanne Gaby Odiele also of Women Models, Sophie Srej also of IMG, Abbey Lee Kershaw also of Next Models, Liu Wen also of Marilyn Models, Shu Pei Qin also of Next Models, Dorothea Barth Jorgensen also of Elite, Isabeli Fontana of Silent Models, and more.

Karl does not like to describe clothing as ‘futuristic’. He says, “I don’t believe in avant-garde clothes for a future that will never happen. Fashion is always now.”

The collection is very young and joyful exemplifying luxury through light using sequins, crystals, embroideries, silver threads, and ethereal volumes from short suits to liquid togas. Some pieces even had embroidery resembling smashed glass and molten metal using jewelry as part of the structure of the garment. This Haute Couture collection is very dreamy full of bows and girly embellishments that would make any women feel gorgeous and confident.

Pictures from the Spring 2009 Balenciaga show. As always, Balenciaga breaks away from fashion norm and into their own style. This collection leaps you into the future with shiny, stretchy fabrics of gray, black and metallics.

Actually, the 2009 collection is not too far off of the 2008 collection which also saw a very futuristic look and tons of shiny fabrics. This is from the 2008 Balenciaga runway show.

I gotta say, I wonder who will be the first to go out on a limb and wear this not to the Star Trek convention, but rather, to a red carpet affair. I doubt anyone has the guts, but it would be way too cool if a celebrity got up the nerve to do so… a bottle of Jack with a Budweiser chaser may help to get them in the spirit.

Check out some of these fashion crazes or crazy fashions. This picture falls under totally crazy shoes, these are the porcupine spiked heels, if the heels don’t kill your feet, the spikes around them will for sure.

Now if your feet do not hurt enough from the porcupine spiked heels above, you can try this stylish pair of toe-less and sole-less crazy boots. They look pretty cool, but you really gotta watch your step and stay away from stepping on any rocks and such.

Not into nutty shoes? how about a hat. Animal print elf cap.

So here is another really cutting edge (literally) Margiela Fashion Show. The theme is Under Construction, I think. The models got rolled out in steal cages by male models in black. The clothes on the models were unfinished and many of them were still attached to the bolts of fabric. Accessories were also made of things like caution tape.

Margiela, known to take risks and be very “out of the norm”, shows some crazy fashion at the 2008 show. The pieces all had the same theme… neck safety and the air bags were built in for any trip these models needed to take.

Futuristic trash bag chic? Now we all know that designer fashion is not always about the wearable… or even pretty… sometimes its just way way out there.

Ivana modeling on the margiela 2008 runway, this show was all about the 1/2 and 1/2 look, as in one leg in and one leg out.

Ines modeling for Margiela, I assume this was not a “ready to wear” show. This may be a great choice of attire for anyone who likes fast cars. The air bag and neck support are already built into the outfit. Not recommended for any hot climates as the insulation may in fact give you heat stroke.

I believe the model is Emiko and this is a fuzzy take the “safety first” fashion.

This will be a classic, taking the 1/2 and 1/2 and safety first looks and combining them…we get the air bag scarf one legged dress. I want one! this is Lui Wen modeling for, who else, Margiela
